Through this program, unemployment young people from small islands of Europe travel to other small islands of Europe to come in contact with sustainable development policies, to live the experience, to be inspired and to transfer these experiences back to their islands.
For a month Haana from the island of Ruhnu in Estonia lived with us here in Donoussa. She was informed and lived closely the environmentally friendly practices that we apply in Argalios, learned the art of card weaving from Ploumitsa,  participated in the activities of the Cultural Environmental Association of Donoussa POSEIDON and worked for the Donoussa Cat Project.
The experience was great for all of us! We would like to thank DAFNI network for the opportunity it gave us and to send a big greeting to Ruhno and our friend Haana with the hope of meeting eachother again soon!

Our favorite ''moustalevria'' recipe by grandma Ploumitsa from Chios, which is continued by her granddaughter Ploumitsa in Donoussa!
Fresh Donoussian must by local grape varieties, ''cut'' with ash that was kept specially for this occasion by the easter wood oven. ''Cutting'' is the process by which the fermentation of the must stops and doesnt ''boil''. Then we put classic wheat flour of Chios, Donoussian sesame and a little cinnamon from the exotic Ceylon!

A single network about 10km, around 3 hours walk, filled with some of the best Donoussian landscapes!
Stavros, Kedros beach, Windmill, Vathi Limenari beach, Livadi beach, the spring of Mersini, Mersini village, the church of Agia Sofia, Messaria village, church of Panagia.
We recommend this treck for those who want in one day to take a solid dose of Donoussa!

Oils under the sun made by local hypericum perforatum, capers simple or capers stuffed in the vases with vinegar, fresh honey from our new beehives, wax salves from 100% natural wax, handmade textiles from the loom of Ploumitsa and custom -made -belts according to your standarts and the colors you prefer. We remind you our card weaving lessons we offer in our guesthouse for those who want to combine their holidays with the learning of a simple traditional weaving techique! 
We continue with dried small tomatoes from original Santorini seed grown in Donoussa, basil leaves for the best summer pesto, verbena herb in its best ready to add to our jams, organic vegetables of the day to eat our guests in their summer salads!
The summer continues and has a lot to offer!

After all these blessed rains came the time of harvest!
Cabbages, cauliflowers, broccolis, radishes, fresh onions, tomatoes (yes tomatoes, tomatoes from traditional Santorini's seed), ruccola, lettuces, leeks.
In nature there is no "bad weather". Donoussa is getting more beautifull, more green, fills her wells and cisterns and looks forward to the next storm!

Card or tablet weaving is a traditional weaving technique, whereby the motifs are created by means of rotating a set of specialised cards. Leaming to use these cards means we can weave our own creations, such as belts, bookmarks, bracelets, decorative bands to use on clothes, each one full of imagination and colour!
The lessons are given individually and take place at Argalios guesthouse.
The only thing you will need to bring with you is a belt along with your good mood of course!
The cost of each private lesson is 95 euros, including the threads and cards, which you also get to keep so to keep practice back home!
The lesson is one and lasts 3 to 4 hours.

In Argalios we are very proud of both the warm hospitality we offer and the wondreful sea view that we enjoy every day.
But we see that this alone is not enough.
Our position is that each company, together with its quality services, must leave a positive enviromental and social impression at the place where it operates, let alone when this place small and sensitive as our Donoussa.

So as Argalios Guesthouse:
1. We do not have air condition in our rooms because we do not think it is necessary. Big waste of energy and very poor air quality. North windows and roof fans do the same job and also drive out the mosquitoes!
2. In all of our rooms there are separate bins for the recycling of organic waste. These are sent to our compostator and then as a fertilizer in the vegetable garden. In this way we have reduced our garbage by about 20% and at the same time we enjoy fresh organic vegetables for us and our guests.
3. We consistently and joyfully participate as sponsors in every cultural and environmental action that takes place and concerns our island.
4. We use detergents from the BIO.ME self-managed industrial plant. As a business, we think that it is the minimum practice we can do to support the struggle of these people. Ace that is much better than a variety of chemicals that are on the market!
5. We are open all year (except if we travel around) offering breakfast in the off season (October to May). Our breakfast products are all seasonal, as organic as possible and purchased by small, quality producers
6. The question of recycling is of great interest to us and we are trying to develop it. This is why this year, together with the organics we mentioned above, we also separate the plastic bottles! We collect them in a special place and at the first opportunity we find them in recycling bins outside of Donoussa. We hope to do well, to find a more stable way of transport and to see Donousa as a pioneer in the field of recycling!
